Gloria Jean (Wells) Smith was born December 28, 1948 in Jacksonville, Fl to the proud parents, the late Willie Wells and Doretha Wells Jones. She was the oldest daughter of (12) children. She is preceded in death by a loving Brother Willie Jr. and a granddaughter Tanjenika Wells and Granddaughter in-law Dominique Maddox.


She attended public school in Jacksonville and graduated in the class of 1968 at Stanton Vocational.  She was baptized at early ages at Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. S. L. Badger; she served with the Senior Saint Ministry and Senior Praise dance Ministry.  She was employed at UF Shands Hospital starting as a CNA 19 years, Climbing the ladder of success as a supervisor of the of Pathology Lab tech the next 15 years until time of retirement.


Her passion was bowling starting in the mid 70’s with the Gator City Bowlers and became President of TNBA Gator City Senate for several years until 2010, then 2014 became President of the Tournament Bowling Club of Jax. INC. until the time of death. Her loved for traveling took her to visit many countries. Gloria was inspirational  influence on everyone with a Godly smile that will light up your heart when you came in contact with her. She had that laugh when she talked, that will always make you smile.  She had a caring spirit, always caring for others. Gloria was the kind of person that took care of your needs before caring for her own.       

She leave to cherish her memories: two daughters Tracy Pope (Jerald), and Carla Maddox, and a son Edward Wells of Tacoma WA; devoted friend Tommy Rawls, seven sisters Norma Brice (Phillip), Lillian Wells (George) of Covington Ga., Gwendolyn Mordecai (Robert), Sonya Olds (Jacob III), Chiniqua Davis; Corial Carter, Minerva Springer (Cole); three brothers Billie Wells (Barbara), Carlton Wells (Clara), Anthony Wells (Kim), a Aunt whom was in her care Agnes Horn; Two Uncles Charles Bynum (Idella) of Annadale, VA; Dr Raleigh W Bynum (Thelmetia) of Charlotte, NC; 12 Grandchildren, 35 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great- Great Grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many loving friends,  dear friend Francene Robinson.
